CARROT PORIYAL/ PALYA
Preparation Time: 10 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes
INGREDIENTS REQUIRED:
For Paste:
1. Grated Coconut- 2 Tsp
2. Green Chillies- 4 to 5 no.
3. Cumin Seeds (Jeera)- 1/2 Tsp
For Poriyal/ Palya:
1. Oil- 3 Tsp
2. Mustard Seeds- 1 Tsp
3. Dry Red Chilli- 1 or 2 no.
4. Urad Dal- 2 Tsp
5. Chopped Carrot-2 Cups
6. Salt- 1 Tsp
7. Water- 1 Cup
PROCEDURE:
Step 1:
1. Add 2 Tsp of fresh grated coconut, 4 green chillies and 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds into a mixing jar.
Step 2:
1. Grind into a paste by adding little amount of water .(appx 2 to 3 tsp)
Step 3:
1. Heat 3 tsp of oil in a kadai/ pan, add 1 tsp of mustard seeds and let it splutter. Then add dry red chillies and 2 tsp of urad dal, saute it for few seconds.
Step 4:
1. Add 2 cups of chopped carrot, saute it for 2 minutes.
Step 5:
1. Add grounded paste, saute it for 5 minutes.
Step 6:
1. Add a tsp of salt, saute it for 2 minutes.
Step 7:
1. Add a cup of water and let it boil for few minutes, close the lid and cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 8:
1. After 10 minutes mix well and the carrot poriyal/ palya is ready to serve
Serve it with Roti, chapathi or Dosa
