Momo is a type of East and South Asian steamed filled dumpling. Momos are extremely popular among the natives of the Indian subcontinent, and can be found in every kind of shop from restaurants to street vendors.
PREPARATION TIME: 10 MINUTES
COOKING TIME: 10 MINUTES
INGREDIENTS REQUIRED:
For Dough:
1. All purpose flour- 2 cups
2. Salt- 1 tsp
3. Oil- 1 tsp
For Stuffing:
1. Oil- 2 tsp
2. Chopped Onions- 1 cup
3. Chopped green chillies- 1 tsp
4. Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
5. Grated carrot- 1 cup
6. Salt- 1 tsp
7. Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
HOW TO MAKE
1. Add 2 cups of all purpose flour ( maida ), salt in a mixing bowl.
2. Mix all ingredients together well and prepare soft dough by adding water as needed. Lastly Greece it with a tsp of oil. Keep it aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
3. Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan over medium flame. Add chopped onions, green chillies, grated carrots and ginger garlic paste. Saute for 2 minutes.
4. Add salt and red chilli powder. Cook for 2 minutes, now stuffing is ready.
5. Take small ball sized dough on a flat surface and roll it out into thin disc. Place 1 tsp of previously prepared stuffing in the centre.
6. Start pleating and join them in the centre to seal it.
7. Prepare momos from the remaining dough.
8. Heat 2 glass of water in a steamer or a vessel. Place momos on a plate, make sure it has some space around them. And cook for 15 minutes on low medium flame.
9. Serve hot momos with Momos Chutney or Schezwan Sauce
