INGREDIENTS REQUIRED:

  • 1/4 cup of Sabudana- soaked for 15 minutes
  • 1/2 cup of Chana Dal- cooked for 3 to 4 pressures
  • 1/2 cup of Jaggery- grated
  • 3/4 cup of Coconut milk
  • Dry fruits for garnish

QUICK LOOK OF RECIPE:

1. Cook Soaked Sabudana for 5 to 10 minutes by adding little water in a pan.

2. Add cooked chana dal and Jaggery. give it a good mix.

3. Add Coconut milk and boil it for 10 to 15 minutes.

4. Garnish it with some dry fruits.

HOW TO MAKE:

(STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE WITH PHOTOS)

1. Soak Sabudana for at least 15 minutes, then boil 1/2 cup of water in a pan when it's boiling add sabudana. And cook for 5 minutes over low medium flame. Stir well for every minute otherwise, it will stick to the pan.

2. Add boiled chana dal. and keep on stirring.

3. Add jaggery and stir until jaggery melts. You can vary the amount of jaggery according to your taste.


4. When sugar melts completely, add 3/4 cup of coconut milk and boil for 5 minutes.


5. At this stage, you can vary the thickness of the payasam you want by adding chana dal stock or water as well. Cover the lid and cook for 5 to 10 minutes over low medium flame.


6. Lastly, add dry fruits and give it a good mix.


7. The Kadala Parippu Payasam is ready to serve.


SERVING IDEAS:

Serve hot with Masala Vada or as a Dessert.
