SOYA CHUNKS CURRY | SOYA CHUNKS CURRY RECIPE |
Soya chunks are healthy and very rich in protein. If you are vegan, you can use this instead of chicken. people used to add this to prepare pulaos, curry etc..
In this curry am using soya chunks as a primary ingredient and giving the effect of spicy masala taste by adding some masala ingredients.

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED:
FOR MASALA PASTE:
- 1 Onion, roughly chopped
- 1 Tomato, roughly chopped
- 1 Inch Cinnamon
- 3 to 5 Cloves
- 10 to 15 Garlic cloves
- 1/2 Inch Ginger
- 1 Tablespoon Red chilli powder
- 1 Tablespoon Coriander powder
- 1/4th Tablespoon Turmeric powder
- 1/2 Tablespoon Garam Masala Powder
FOR CURRY:
- 15 to 20 Soya chunks
- 5 Tablespoon Oil
- 1 Teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 Small bunch Coriander leaves, finely chopped
QUICK LOOK OF RECIPE:
- Add onions, tomatoes and all the masala powder in a mixer jar and grind into a thick paste.
- Soak soya chunks in hot water for 15 minutes and chop them into pieces.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and ground masala paste. Saute it for 5 minutes.
- Add chopped soya chunks and salt and mix well
- Cook for 15 minutes, Lastly garnish it with coriander leaves.
- Soya chunks curry is ready to serve.
HOW TO MAKE:
(STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE WITH PHOTOS)
1. Take a mixing jar and Add onions, tomatoes, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, garlic, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder.
2. Grind into a thick paste by adding little water.
3. Soak soya chunks in a hot water for about 15 minutes.
4. After 15 minutes, remove excess water from the soya chunks by squeezing it.
5. If you want you can use as it is to prepare the curry.
6. Cut into pieces. I have made 4 pieces from one soya chunk.
7. Heat oil in a pan, when it is heated add mustard seeds and let them splutter for 30 seconds.
8. Add previously grounded masala paste saute until the raw smell of the masala vanishes. (appx 5 minutes)
9. Add Chopped soya chunks and give it a good mix.
10. Add salt as per your taste. and at this stage add red chilli powder if you want the curry to become spicier. But I am not adding chilli powder as I already added while grinding the paste.
11. Cover the lid and cook for 15 minutes over low flame.
12. Lastly, add chopped coriander leaves and mix all together.
13. Soya chunks curry is ready to serve.
SERVING IDEAS:
Best side dish for Chapati but good to have with rice.
